The Environmental Committee and the Florida Oceanographic Center invite members to participate in the creation of Vertical Oyster Gardens at our clubhouse. Oysters are renowned for their exceptional filtering capabilities, which contribute to the purification and clarity of our waters. Vertical Oyster Gardens consist of recycled oyster shells sourced from local restaurants, which are strung together on a rope or wire and suspended from a dock or seawall. This arrangement provides surfaces for juvenile oysters (also known as spat or oyster larvae) to attach and develop.
