Turning Tragedy Into Purpose: A Special Program with the Gabby Petito Foundation

Gabby Petito was a free spirit with a deep love for travel, art, and nature. She was just beginning her life—radiating joy and possibility—when it was tragically taken by an act of intimate partner violence. Gabby’s story has since touched hearts around the world and continues to inspire awareness, advocacy, and hope for those seeking freedom from abuse.

Our club was honored to welcome Gabby’s father, Steve Petito, and her “bonus” mom, Tara Petito, representing the Gabby Petito Foundation, for a powerful presentation and Q&A at our clubhouse. The foundation is dedicated to transforming Gabby’s tragedy into purpose by raising awareness and helping prevent domestic violence. Nearly 80 attendees gathered to hear Gabby’s story and learn more about the ongoing efforts to support survivors and strengthen prevention efforts in our community.

As part of the program, guests assembled “Hope Boxes”—purple backpacks filled with essential items for survivors of domestic violence and their children. These backpacks were donated to SafeSpace, providing tangible support and comfort to those on their journey toward safety and healing.
