Standing Together for Domestic Violence Awareness
The GFWC Woman's Club of Stuart hosted a powerful and deeply moving event focused on domestic violence awareness. It was an evening centered on education, compassion, and action—reminding us all of the importance of recognizing abuse and supporting those affected by it.
We were honored to welcome special guest speakers Joseph Petito and Tara Petito, Gabby Petito’s dad and “bonus mom.” Their courage in sharing their family’s story brought an emotional and urgent reminder of why awareness matters.
Thanks to the generosity of attendees, we were able to assemble and donate over 40 bags to our local SafeSpace organization. These bags will provide comfort, necessities, and reassurance to individuals seeking safety and support during incredibly difficult moments.
The event reinforced an essential truth: control, anger, verbal abuse, physical violence—and the cycle of “love bombing” that often follows—are not signs of a healthy relationship. Abuse is never love, and no one deserves to live in fear.
If you or someone you know needs help, please reach out. Safe, compassionate support is available through organizations like SafeSpace and other local domestic violence advocacy groups. Together, through awareness, education, and action, we can help break the cycle and stand with survivors on their path to safety and healing.
